Larry was a teenager who was in his 10th grade and was known to be quite good at his academics. It was obviously a big shock for people to find out that he was being taken to a teen treatment center for drug addiction treatment. He was seen begging people for money saying that he had no money on him and he had lost his way in the busy street. Larry would create a sad story saying that his wallet has been stolen and he has no money to go home. Some of them would give him money sympathetically, and he would use them to buy him some drugs. One day, he was found by his uncle tottered unsteadily trying to cross a busy street, under the influence of drugs. His parents were informed and he was taken to a teen rehab center.
Larry stayed alone with his grand-mother, his parents used to live in a different country. Since Larry had all the freedom do to what he wanted, he misused it by taking it to drugs. He had gone partying once and some of the people there asked him to try out a few drugs. He loved it and soon became addicted to heroin. Larry had a drug peddler who promised him drugs if he would help him in selling them. So the boy neglected his medicine and started subtly selling drugs to some people around the night club. If he felt that he was short on cash, he would ask people on streets to give money by concocting some story.
Larry was taken to a teen rehab center where he was treated with the best detox procedure; he was counseled well against drug addiction and soon it dawned on to him that he was actually destroying his education and his health in the process. Larry’s parents, who had flown all the way to make sure that the entire treatment process goes well, cooperated with the doctor. Soon in a matter of two months, Larry was fine, having benefited a lot from individual and group therapy. He said that he would cooperate with the law and give all the information about places he knew where drugs proliferated. He also gave the name and address of the person who sold him drugs and asked him to supply it to other people at night clubs. Both the police, the authorities and even the rehab were deeply perturbed by this, the extent to which teen drug addiction was being spreading in the country was condemnable.
Nevertheless, Larry found a huge difference in his health after being treated in a teen rehabilitation center. He is now an active college campaigner against teen drug abuse. He gives his example to teens and tells them to avoid taking drugs and alcohol at any cost. He said that if it were not for his uncle and the teen rehab program that changed his life, he wouldn’t have been able to survive. Just one person can make so much difference; it is high time teens gave up on drugs and start being high on positive things in life; after all, today’s teens are the future of this nation.

We all need goals in our life; it might be on an academic or personal basis. It will be best if you’ll begin with a few goals or else you’ll be discouraged and bored eventually. This goal must be drive for teens or students. To have goals enforced to them and without the teen’s interest, surely will not motivate in doing it regularly.
Below are some practical guides on goal settings which might help in making an easy to reach or set goals:
1. The realistic and specific goals are working. If you are to make some changes, a person who likewise succeed, they are one’s who setup a realistic and specific target goal. Like, I will be sweeping our backyard twice a week for a clean household instead of a goal like, “I will do something for our house this week”. Besides, it makes the goals easy to stick unto.
2. It will take some time before a person change completely, developing it to a habit. It takes 2 or more months, a person change her or his lifestyle, like to get up in the morning just to have an exercise before it becomes a regular routine. It’s because the brain need some more time being used on that idea of doing new things and becomes part of his or her habit.
3. To keep on repeating goals eventually stick on your memory or body routine. Tell yourself of the goals every morning, be reminded of the things you wanted and work it out. To jot down those things also. Everyday you keep on reminding yourself of the goal, you are training the brain in making things happen.
4. To please someone will not work. If you would like to change, the main key is to find it within yourself, you need to like it and not due to someone else like your parent, boyfriend, girlfriend or anyone likes you to change. It’s hard for you to be motivated or at track if you only do it due to an obligation for another people.
5. The barriers on the road do not mean you’re a failure. Some mistakes actually become a learning routine and it retrains the brain of a newer way to think. It might take some failures before you reach your goals. It will be ok, its really normal messing up and giving up several times if you would like to change. Bear in mind that all of us commit mistakes, so do not beat the heck out yourself, just because of a failure. Keep on trying and be back to your goals to succeed.
It is important to have goals in our lives. Teenagers who learned planning and reach for their goals, gives them a high self confidence not only during the times of accomplished targets and even during the times of failure.
To have patience was an unvalued factor to become successful when setting goals, maybe due to the fact of our collective impatience. For the teenagers, the skill of setting goals is developed when there’s an opportunity of sleepover or during short trips with family’s friend, in going to zoo’s or parks. Lots of opportunities can arise.
Everything discussed above, if the parents or role models is in such enthusing or supportive manner will be leading the teenagers for setting goals that works. Supporting the teens to set some goals will eventually give them self satisfaction and make his or her life better because of an attitude of I’ll be able to do it!
As a teenager that keeps on achieving their goals in life. Keep going for a better you.
